Lauren Turnage

Founder & Head Instructor

Lauren Turnage  is the founder of The School of Pilates, a method-driven studio rooted in structure, self-discovery, and mastery through movement. Her journey began over two decades ago in yoga, where she became a teacher in 2007 and later opened Root Yoga Center in Denver. During her first pregnancy, chronic joint pain from years of overextension led her to Pilates—guided by mentor Cara Reeser—and it changed everything. She didn’t just feel better; she felt re-integrated. That experience reshaped her view of movement, revealing a deeper truth: strength doesn’t come from pushing further—it comes from pulling it all together.

Lauren created The School of Pilates as both a studio and a system—a place where students don’t just attend class, but build a body of knowledge they can carry for life. Her method blends classical sequencing with a modern understanding of biomechanics, layering structure with curiosity, and progression with purpose. Students are called by name, corrected with care, and guided to move not harder, but smarter—building command, clarity, and confidence with every session.

What sets her teaching apart is a refusal to dilute the work. Lauren holds students to their form—not for aesthetics, but because form is the architecture of freedom. This is not a space to burn out, hustle, or perform. It is a place to study, refine, and evolve. Under her leadership, The School of Pilates offers more than fitness—it offers an education in your own potential.
